What are some common physio services offered by physiotherapists?
Common physio services offered by physiotherapists include hands on treatment (deep tissue massage, gua sha, chinese cupping, dry needling/western acupuncture, sports strapping, manipulation, shockwave. In combination with regular check-ups, exercise prescription or home exercise programs (like Ground Up Therapy or the GLAD program).
What is the recommended frequency for physio check-ups and maintenance treatment?
We recommend 5 visits to the physio per year, once every 10 weeks, to preventably treat for fatigue, injury or illness. However, the frequency may vary depending on an individual's health needs and conditions, e.g full time workers, parents or sporting communities come in much more frequently.
What safety measures are in place to protect patients during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Our clinic follows strict safety protocols to protect our patients and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. These measures include health screenings, mask-wearing, social distancing, and increased sanitation and disinfection of surfaces and equipment.
What should I do if I have a physio emergency?
If you have an emergency such as a broken bone or severely injured, it is important to the hospital immediately. We often see clients after a significant injury or surgery to rehabilitate and restore function.
How can I improve my overall health?
Maintaining good behaviours and habits such as drinking water, eating and exercising daily, and getting good quality sleep, helps us heal faster. Eating a balanced diet, avoiding sugary foods and drinks, and quitting smoking can also have a positive impact on your overall health. Regular physio check-ups and can help you stay accountable to living a healthy lifestyle and can also help identify and address any important health issues.
Are physio treatments painful?
Some physio treatments can cause discomfort, but with communication, the pain can be managed between yourself and the physio. Additionally, many physiotherapists offer different treatment options to help patients feel more relaxed and comfortable during procedures. Fun fact: some of the pain we deliver in treatment, actually helps reduce the pain you come in for.
